Comments Thread For: Mitchell: After This I Have Miguel Vazquez in My Sight!

Kevin Mitchell is determined to seize his chance when he faces Ghislaine Maduma in their IBF lightweight final eliminator at Wembley on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old from Dagenham is confident of taking the Canadian's unbeaten status away on the undercard of Carl Froch v George Groves II and can call upon the support of 80,000 home fans to help him book a clash with world champion Miguel Vazquez.

Speaking at the open workout at Westfield in west London, Mitchell told Sky Sports News: "It's a great opportunity for me. It's a world title eliminator and after this I've got Vazquez in my sight. What a platform to do it on - it's the biggest show in history!

Got my money on Vazquez. He's a proven traveler and has an ugly but effective style. Kevin has nothing in his record saying that he can handle Vazquez. Vazquez will outbox, out wrestle, and ugly win on him too. Anywhere. KO'd by Burn? He got's nothing for Vazquez, good work out maybe.

After seeing his opponent I am not too confident Mitchell will even get past him and Vasquez will box his ears off without a doubt.

Mitchell is a good little fighter but he's European level at best. If he does get through this one, Vasquez will put a beating on him.

I agree, think Maduma is going to be a tough opponent. Good power and can box well though he has been taking the distance twice in his last three since moving up. If Mitchell fights the same fight he did against Presscott then he can win but if he brawls i think he will end up on the canvas just like against Burns and Katsidis. Hope its the former.
