    Junior Jones

Did anyone follow this guys career? Did he just seem to have days where he was on his game but then games that we was off? Did he have motivation problems? His record is just confusing.

He was a great fighter, fell off, then beat Barrera. I think Barrera won the rematch, but some say he jus had bareras number. But that was pretty much it. But he was a pretty good fighter. And he lost to a lot of guys Barrera beat...styles make fights

Poison Jones was a very slick boxer. Good power in the right hand...pretty odd angles when punching. That Barrera knockout was brutal man. I was shocked when he destroyed Marco like that. My boy Morales gave him a beating though.

He definitely had an up and down career...beat some good names but his chin ultimately let him down in the end. I'm actually pretty sure that every fight hes lost has been by KO.

I always wanted to see him fight Kevin Kelley...it would have been a pretty good bout at 126.

            Jones

Good points about Junior Jones made.
He was at one time ranked number 3 on Boxing's PFP List behind only Pernell Whitaker and Roy Jones by many experts.
He seemed to be a bit weak in the leg department as he was huge in the shoulders, looking a lot like Hearns did at 147.
His legs would give out when he was clipped real hard on the chin oftentimes, but he had some great victoreis and was a very exciting boxer/puncher.
A bit of trivia: Kevin Kelley knocked Junior out the one time that they sparred, and Junior would never fight him after that.
In my personal favorite fight of his; Jones put on a beautful exhibition of boxing mastery when he schooled the great bantamweight champion Orlando Canizales on HBO about 10 years or so ago.

Jones was entertaining. He had speed, power and boxing ability. His chin was the weakness. He was hammering Kennedy McKinney untill he got hit. His jab was very good, followed by an explosive right hand ( not a bad left hook either ).
Some called him the featherweight Thomas Hearns. Its the chin that finished him. Junior Jones with an iron chin would have been a hall of famer!

not all Jones' losses were by KO, in his last fight he lost by 10 rounds UD to Ivan Alvarez. But all his other losses were by KO.
