Comments Thread For: Main Events/Kovalev Lawsuit Hasn't Distracted Stevenson

Adonis Stevenson and his handlers haven’t been distracted by Main Events’ lawsuit against them as they’ve prepared for the WBC light heavyweight champion’s fight Saturday night against Andrzej Fonfara.

Main Events sued Stevenson, adviser Al Haymon, promoter Yvon Michel, Golden Boy Promotions, Showtime and eight unnamed others in a civil suit filed last month in a New York federal court. The suit stems from the well-documented belief of Main Events chief executive officer that she and Michel had reached an agreement on a deal four months ago that would’ve matched Quebec’s Stevenson (23-1, 20 KOs) against Russian knockout artist Sergey Kovalev (24-0-1, 22 KOs), the WBO 175-pound champion promoted by Main Events, by sometime in the fall. But Al Haymon is not his promoter. How is he going to take care of that?

I assume at least 10+ pages of "Stevenson is scared of Kovalev" to follow.

Damn Al Haymon fighters are now ducking fights to the point of getting sued over it lol...

How much more clear can it be that Stevenson ducked Kovalev...I mean if a lawsuit isn't proof, I don't know what is lol...

I still remember Stevenson fighting Tony Bellew or whatever his name is instead of fithing Kovalev late 2013 lol...this ducking fights thing is getting ridiculous with Al Haymon fighters...

I'm sure the lawsuit isn't a distraction to Stevenson... he'll gladly take a lawsuit over having to get knocked out by Kovalev any day I'm sure lol...

Typical boxingscene dumbass. Showtime paid Stevenson 40% more for his last fight than HBO was willing to pay. And he's gonna make twice as much against Hopkins than he was against Kovalev. Blame HBO for not stepping up. Blame the Kovalev types for signing these multi-fight deals and tying themselves down to a given network or promoter. But don't blame a guy like Stevenson for maximizing his earning potential. Showtime may fall flat on their face. But right now, their putting a ****load of money out to get the best fighters on their network while HBO's arrogant asses are still operating under the belief that they're the pinnacle of boxing and these fighters should be thankful and kiss the ground that they walk on that HBO will allow them to fight on their network.

I think Kovalev will become a big enough payday for Stevenson by the end of the year/early 2015.
