Could Monroe fight again in 2 weeks?

Didn't see the fight... didn't wake up early enough. Saw this though

Looks like their top opponent search didn't go so well on short notice.

Could be another huge step up just a few short days after his biggest win

Very interesting. I figured Willie would take some more time, but this is a pretty big stage. It'd be the fight right before the main event right?

According to BoxRec, Melendez is fighting a 12-rounder so it's most likely the co-main. This is a big opportunity for Monroe, wonder if he has enough confidence to take it.

I reckon its possible, he boxed well but did get clipped with some shots but didn't give signs he was rocked bad. He was showboating and everything too.

I wouldent advise it, he is gonna get a big fight next no matter what. Why take a fight so close to a not grueling fight but neither was it a easy fight.

He should turn it down. He plenty of MW's for him to fight.

He said in the post-fight interview he's going down to 54, but I'm sure if he gets a good fight at 60, he'll take it. I agree with you though. I think he should rest up. He'll get a good fight.

It's got to be appealing. Melendez was outworked by Nick Brinson, who Monroe absolutely owned as an amateur. He beat Brinson at least 5 times, including in the 2007 NYS Golden Gloves final.

If he had 4 or 5 weeks to prepare, I'm sure Willie would be licking his chops for such an opportunity. That said, I doubt he'll take the fight on such short notice. As others have noted, his next fight will be a significant one in any case.
