I think your missing the derogatory tone in which ward said it. He was saying it's not on the level of his cards at the Oakland gymnasium

"This is not to take away from anything that they're doing, but that's a domestic fight. You've got to remember that. It's not here in America, that's not in Vegas, it's not in New York, that's a domestic fight, so there's a difference."

It looks like 'Son of God' (the humility is overwhelming) seems to have created his own little idiosyncratic world. But he needs to elaborate on this ill thought out bitter diatribe, 'cause at the moment it's a little bit nonsensical.

By his own limited reasoning Ali Vs Foreman and Ali Vs Frazier III were domestic fights because they didn't take place within US boarders.

If you do choose to visit Andre in Oakey-Dokeyville (because he certainly isn't making the effort to come to your town) do be careful not to tread in dog****.

I haven't even read what he said, to be honest I take whatever he says with a pinch of salt, boxing does not revolve around Ohkahoma or wherever he hails from. He might be the best at that weight but he just like Timothy Bradley don't have much market value, and I can see why he would be or might be a bit jealous when he sees someone like Groves making more of a name than he (Ward).

additionally, the king isn't claiming necessarily that fights outside of the states don't matter, only that they aren't at the highest level until they come to america and fight the champion of the world.

froch is the A side of this fight, and did get the W in the first fight. we all know what ward did to froch. such is the level of the froch - groves rematch.

Ward is just bitter IMO. He's good and all but he's in a tough spot. Idk what he can do.

Andre Ward, the forgotten man of boxing.

Can't draw flies to his fights, no wants to fight him. can't even get a big name promoter to sort out his legal issues.

From what started out to be a very promising career, he is now slipping so far down he is unlikely to get into the HOF without a change in fortune.

The main problem is Ward's diva'ish attiutude, if he can sort that out he maybe able to get his career back on track, but it maybe already too late.
