Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Waiting on Offer From Arum For Sept. 13

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is willing to explore the possibility of returning to action on September 13, which is the same day the Floyd Mayweather Jr. is expected to fight.

A few days ago on BoxingScene.com, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum discussed the possibility of staging an event at The Forum in Inglewood, California - on Mexican Independence Day weekend, and Chavez Jr. being tabbed for the card as the headliner.

rumor is Haymon was offering him 47 million.

Arum won't match that nor would HBO put up that kind of money. if Chavez tries to leave before his contract expires he'll be sued, because we all know you don't F with Uncle Bob.

Even Mayweather paid Arum to get out his contract with him

Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.

basically Chavez just killed his career. when he fights for Arum again, ol' Bob is going to throw him to the wolves and milk him for every cent. by the time Haymon gets him, he won't be worth piss.

If he offered him $47 million I would seriously have to question Haymon's business judgement. Considering what we know about Haymon, he doesn't operate at a loss ever, so I doubt there is any truth to that. $47 million is just an insane money for a guy who was just earning like $2 million a fight.

Chavez Jr fights > Mayweather fights.

A Chavez main event card could dent a Mayweather PPV card in September. Just sayin'.

If Chavez has a decent opponent, and showcased on hbo, I think that would put a huge dent into Floyd's buy rates..

Chavez is one of the few fighters that could draw enough viewer away, especially the Mexican fan base.. It would have to be a semi decent fight but I could def see Chavez stealing some viewers from floyd

September 13, that will force Floyd to rematch Maidana. Even though JCCjr needs a good dance partner, might be too quick of a turn around for GGG.

Would also hurt Chavez's numbers. Makes no sense at all for HBO.
