I knew who Jones was only because his brother played for the Ravens.

As far as boxing is concerned I can even remember the first fight I ever recorded on VHS. I went to Sears and the VHS tape, one tape, cost me $12.00 and I taped Rockin Robin Blake losing to future Champ Harry Arroyo back in I believe 1984. After that I recorded everything boxing. I most have 20,000 fights on tape down in the basement. To say the least I was a bit obsessed.

Simply put I have planed many a nights around boxing matches I have even planed vacations around boxing matches. I once even had a young lady break up with me and part of the reason was she claimed that boxing seemed more important to me than she did. I may be wrong but I am pretty sure it also had something to do with that other dude she happened to be sleeping with. Oh well I still had my love affair with boxing.

Just a little side note. Back in the day I always went to Atlantic City to watch fights. My brother is a casual boxing fan and he would often join me on the trips. A couple of years ago he happened to have the opportunity to go to a MMA event in AC. I am not sure if it was a UFC event but what my brother said was that it was a different crowd then the boxing crowd. He claimed that there was way to much testosterone flowing and to many in the crown actually thought that they were MMA fighters. He said that alone took some of the enjoyment out of the evening. By the way if you have not figure it out I vote boxing.
I love this post. My eyes watered. You are the kind of guy I could have a great time with drinking beers and talking boxing even if we had nothing else in common whatsover. Green F'ing K.

Boxing all the way... MMA was fun to watch for a little while, but Bruce Buffer and the boring rematch after rematch got old. I think boxing is a sport of true specialists in their art while MMA is a bunch of guys who understand you can knock somebody out if you make a fist and throw it wildly at your opponents face. Granted, there are several excellent fighters in MMA, but by and large its guys who have trained for a few years and go pro.

Boxing is my favorite sport, and it's not even close. I like other sports a lot though. I watch basketball, football, baseball and tennis a good bit.

What is the purpose of a thread on a pure boxing forum asking the users if they like boxing or MMA more? (wouldnt it be smarter if u ask if they also enjoy/like MMA?) I think i might log in to a fillipino-Pacquiao-forum and ask if they like Pacquiao or Mayweather more...

To be fair, I'm not a member of sherdog, if that's the boxingscene of mma, I have been wanting to bring up the topic for a while now but didn't know where to post it to get more unbiased results, I know there is an mma forum here too and many people watch both so I don't think it's so ridiculous, and there are many Pinoy Floyd fans i'm sure.

In comparison the level of striking in mixed martial arts is atrocious for the most part.

Muay Thai's an amazing sport to watch. Massive skill level involved and there's an air of brutality about it as well, even moreso than in boxing.

When two Muay Thai fighters start trading elbows you know some serious shit is going down. Can't quite say the same for when you see two MMA fighters rolling around in their underwear.
