I can't believe anyone legitimately believes Cotto is going to win this? No disrespect to Cotto but he has been cut up and stopped/hurt by guys way smaller than Sergio. If a 180+ lb JCC Jr. could not stop Sergio there is no way in hell Cotto is, who is at best a small 154 lber. That D. Rodriguez fight meant nada, so I hope no one is too impressed. Cotto fought wildly and had no defense in that fight because he knew Delvin was not on his level and he now has Mr. Offense/Zero Defense in his corner. If Cotto comes after Sergio like that he is going to get sliced up and stopped. Unless Sergio has deteriorated and is at 60-70% now, he stops Cotto either by KO or a later rounds TKO via damage to his face. I will give 100% props to Cotto if he can beat Sergio at all (except for BS NYC PR judging bias of course).

Chavez Jr. didn't thow any punches, was weeded up eating fruity pebbles for breakfast and trained about 3 days and Sergio still almost lost that fight. Cotto being smaller and having not having the best chin is absolutely an issue, but Sergio has never fought anyone as intelligent, savy, experienced or have the ring generalship that Cotto brings. That's why this is an even fight, Sergio has the physical advantages but his style is terrible for a technically sound fighter (dropping his hands and sticking his face out.) He loses any reach advantage when he does that and most people are thinking Cotto's left hook and body shots, I think the jab eats Martinez up all night.

If Cotto is able to put Sergio on his back foot and make him use his legs I think he likely has a much better chance at winning this fight. If not then he still has a chance just not quite as good. Don't forget lots of factors in this fight. Sergio's age and lack of quality opponents will likely show up.

How far back is a few years for you?

Cotto fought the best fighter in the world 2 years ago. An up and coming champ who was highly rated. He also fight the guy who beat him and beat Sergio, even if he was past prime. He also fought the best fighter in the planet again in 2009.

Nobody Sergio has fought in the last 3-5 years could be considered amongst the best in the world, except p. Williams depending on who you ask.

Let's see here. He's fighting a 5'6 blown up jr middleweight, making his middleweight debut, a one who was old, shot, and washed up two years ago when the welterweight champion was criticized for moving up and fighting in his home division. He should be confident of a KO.
