Showtimes not focusing on profit with Mayweather.

Whether Showtime makes profit with Mayweather or not, that's not what they are focusing on. Boxing will continue after Mayweather. They are thinking long term. They are using Mayweather for exposure and viewers. Not profit. The profit will come after Mayweather retires and Showtime has a big following. It seems like Showtime is going on the right path right now. They are stacking Mayweather's undercards and building young fighters. So once again, Mayweather is there for exposure. Not profit. The profits will come from the future like Thurman, Porter, Danny Garcia, Canelo, Wilder, Quillen, Leo Santa Cruz, etc.

            i somewhat agree.

they are building a sports platform to compete with rival networks like hbo.

although the days of floyd getting that guarantee is quickly coming to an end.

Floyd is there to raise Showtimes profile and he's done that. If Showtimes lucky they break even over the 6 fight deal. HBO has been dominating boxing programming in the US for over 25 years. That's not going to change in 2 years. Personally I don't think Showtime has done a good enough job promoting the young talent they do have. Floyd's contract is already at the half way point.

BEFORE: Who cares about making the big fights. It's all about money. With Floyd, Showtime is going to rake it in.

AFTER: It doesn't matter that they lost money. It was never about making money. Showtime doesn't care about money. Nobody cares about money. It's about making big fights ...... in the future
