Ever since the retirement of Lennox Lewis, and with the recent retirement of Vitali Klitschko, boxing fans everywhere have been begging for a unification of the heavyweight titles, crowning one undisputed champion. On the bright side, it appears that during the next few months, the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles will all be on the line. Unfortunately, none of those champions will be fighting each other. Even more unfortunate, their opponents don’t appear to be worthy contenders. [details]

yeah for sure the heavyweight division suck nig tym..i only like toney in the class i hope his fight against rahman would pursue and challenge all the champs to unify once again the heavyweight titles. -
James Toney is the guy the division is calling out for - charismatic, exciting, fast, excellent skills and bags and bags of talent. Its a shame he's not a big puncher, but I see him beating Rahman fairly easily. However, isnt it a sad indictment of the division today that a former middleweight is looking like the saviour of the heavyweight division? That would never have happened in Louis' day, just ask Cobb!!Comment

It really is kind of ridiculous. They need to unify the belts for sure. Hell, the way it`s going maybe even Kirk Johnson will get another shot.Comment

Better idea, but far fetched.
Instead of unifying the belts, having one champion (who will eventually get stripped of all the belts as quickly as he wins them, like Lennox Lewis.) The best solution is to get rid of all the belts except for one.
Then you will have better fights (#2 vs #3 gets to fight #1), one mainstream champion, and some hope for boxing.
I have been a good fan for a long time now, but until some changes are made, we are always going to have these problems.Comment

did bruce seldon deserve his title shot after getting KO'd by bowe and mccall? did ruiz deserve his title shot afte being killed by tua? or did frans botha, axel shultz, fres, golota, mccline, TOS, etc, etc... i could go on and on.... some boxing writers just wanna ***** about things ....Comment
