Ortiz probably would have done well without boxing. He seems to have a natural enjoyment for the entertainment business.
While he will never go down as any sort of great in Boxing, he was a world champion. That alone helps his career credit in an action film. "[Former] Boxing World Champion VictorORTIZ".
I think he's simply a fighter who has a lot of talent, but not willing to "do anything" to become a great. We shouldn't hate on him. Many fighters give it a go, and quit after a couple of fights. Many fighters give it a go, make some sort of decent career and stop. Ortiz became a world champion, quit in a fight, came back to win a world title, fought some top guys, beat some decent fighters, entertained with some decent fights, overall remained humble, seems like a likable guy and may just stop fighting to pursue other things.
We're keyboard warriors. Not everyone that steps in the ring is meant to be an ATG or an Arturo Gatti to give their health to entertain us.Comment

Ronda Rousey's the odd one out here. Not because she's female, but because she's the only one that isn't washed up.Comment

Ortiz had some real interest in boxing until 2011. I think after his fight against Floyd (which actually could qualify as an acting piece) it started to show that Victor was going to follow a different direction. Danciing with the Stars was just the beginning of the alternative route and boxing became secondary so it shouldn]t be a surprise the losses against Josesito and Collazo. Ortiz probably still can make some appearances in the ring but without any full commitment to boxing it is almost sure that he would use it just to continue having some leverage to his new endeavours. Good for him.Comment
