Javier “Implacable” Prieto (24-7-1, 18KOs) retained his World Boxing Council lightweight silver title with a twelve round split draw against Ivan “Macanón” Cano (22-6-1, 15KOs), at the Arena Quequi Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Judge Alicia Ramírez scored it 116-112 for Cano, Judge Jesús González saw it 115-114 for Prieto and Judge Euberto Díaz decided 114-114. Prieto captured the WBC title last November 30th with an upset decision over Vicente “Loco” Mosquera in Panama.
