Or put him in the ring with 5 heavy weights with his hands tied behind his back.

        RIP Johnny!

I remember back then when I was still young in the PI (late 1970), Every town in there would held this boxing tournament on Fiesta's. Kids as young as a 10 year old compete for some change. They would only share two pairs of gloves with more than a dozen fighters. They would go at it without a head gear and sometimes you could see blood with the first strike on the nose.

If your father suspects you of being gay, your father would certainly enlist you to compete to see if you are indeed gay!

Unfortunately boxing can be like this sometimes, tragedies happen. So sorry for the kid and specially for his family, may he rest in peace.

Agreed, good post. My prayers go out to his family. Much respect for a kid who idolized manny and went out on his shield in the sport he loved, at least he has that.

Hopefully this doesn't make boxing over there take a hit, we need more filipino stars after pacquiao, donaire, and gesta.

Poor kid and family. It's easy to forget why mothers fear this sport. It must be terrible for his family.

                  Prayers out to them.

this was only kids fight and the adults running this event could have stopped the fight earlier and prevented this tragedy...
