I guess the mistake most make is mistaking skills for greatness; yes he is one of the most skilled fighters in the history of the sport but roy jones jr was also one of the most athletic fighters in the sports history and isn't TBE. Floyd is skilled yes but we honestly can't judge if that would have been enough to overcome prime margarito, prime pacquiao, prime cotto or even a prime clottey, who like maidana showed that other attributes could sometimes triumph.

To be honest i think those are his peers who he should have been compared to in history. cotto, marg and clottey. I think clottey was a very good fighter at least much better than ortiz, berto and guerrero. The thing about TBE is we will also be comparing his performance amongst his peers to future fighters and with floyd i don't think there is enough information to do so. Most of his fans were able to get away with the fantasy fight arguments because he was so skilled but on paper floyd stops maidana.

I agree with you. And I think it is more of a business strategy directed more toward his haters to make them hate him more, talk about him, and buy his PPVs in the hope to see him loss. Unfortunately for him, many of his haters especially in this forum can't afford to buy his PPVs.
