Perhaps, I am sure there is some reason to it other than he felt like ****ing up his Friday night.

If I had to guess, I would say he wants this situation to stay on his narrative since people are somewhat on his side believing what he is selling.

not quite sure why chavez rejected the fight now, if his contract goes to october of next year, and it would still be that even with the extension, what exactly is he upset about? Is he just gonna sit on is hands for the year and a half and not fight anybody and not make any money what so ever? Starting to feel like he got upset that he was facing GGG, not the money.

Even if Top Rank wanted to hold things off till September 2015, Chavez Jr only owes them one fight, a fight he is willing to do, based on the positive response to the GGG fight, against anyone. Chavez Jr seems to only want to settle the fight owed, and move on into free agency.

What sense is there for him to lock himself in for additional fights, when he only owes Top Rank one fight?

The contract could end in nine years; the fact still stands that there seems to only be one fight owed on the deal. If Top Rank wants to sit Chavez Jr on the shelf and fulfill the remaining date September 2015, that's there prerogative; still doesn't mean that they can turn that exercise date into 3 more fights.

Because he only owes Top Rank 1 fight.

Imagine being in a class, where you are scheduled to take 3 exams and a final but, right before the final, your instructor wanted to add another midterm and second final exam.

You may enjoy the stuff that you're covering in class, with things not even necessarily being difficult, but you'd like object to the extra exams, for the simple fact that you were a test away from fulfilling your obligation.

What sense is there for Chavez to extend an obligation that he's already willing to just work through the end of? If Top Rank wants to give him some junk fight, before sitting him at home for the rest of his contract, that's up to them; Chavez Jr would've already fulfilled what he owed and things would likely come down to determining what his team is ready to pay for that time.

But i remember arum saying and im paraphrasing here...why give chavez major money and he not stay with them? Its not worth it. End of paraphrase. Chavez made 2.5 million against Brain Vera...Brain Vera...and arum wants to pay him 500k less to fight GGG in a pay per view bout? But if Chavez signs the extension then top rank will negotiate the fight. My question id why not.just give Chavez the 6.6 million WITHOUT an extension? If.its true that chavezs contract is up next year, there is no reason why top rank cant do this fight.

Because while the contract won't be up until October 2015, Chavez won't owe Arum any fights during that time. Arum could be risking all this money on the Golovkin fight, only for Chavez to choose to sit it out for the rest of his contract. It isn't worth the risk if Chavez doesn't at least fight for him one more time.

Top Rank doesn't want to sit Chavez out. That's the whole point of offering him multi-fight deals. If Chavez doesn't fight through out 2015, that would be Chavez' prerogative. It would be Chavez own choice that he rather not fight over allowing Arum to promote another one of his fights while still under contract.

The problem here I think is that Chavez doesn't understand that he would still be under contract after the Golovkin fight for another year so not accepting a huge guarantee for his next fight is ******. Or at least disagrees that he would still be under contract and will try to take it to court.

What you guys (most) are failing to realize is that Chavez Jr wants to be a free agent so all that other contractual talk don't mean anything. Arum tried to lure Chavez Jr into an extension but Jr don't want to. How can people say he's dumb for not accepting a trap? Also, if the contract was all that with the money and so forth thence why would there be a problem? Chavez Jr knows what he wants and what he don't want is to be sadduced by Arum.
