Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr.'s Manager Responds To Bob Arum's Comments

Billy Keane, manager of former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., reached out to BoxingScene.com to respond to some of the recent statements that appeared earlier today from Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum.

In an interview with Ernesto Castellanos of NotiFight/BoxingScene, Arum discussed the ongoing contractual dispute with Chavez Jr.

For several weeks, Arum and his company were attempting to finalize a July HBO Pay-Per-View event, where WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin would have faced Chavez at the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds.

Chavez Jr. is more interesting out of the ring than he is in it...maybe he should stay out of the ring, not sure he'll be that missed.

Very True. We could see the in the Martinez/Chavez Jr 24/7 series that he wasn't fully focused on his boxing, Roach had to keep contacting him just to get him down to the gym. He's a waste of space IMO.

              Junior is an ungrateful punk.

He's somewhere between a journeyman and a contender. I can see S.O.G. Try to keep a straight face whenever he has to big up Chavez to try to make that big money fight.

so basically he left 23 million on the table for what??

                7 for GGG
                5 for whoever
                and 10 if he wins

Chavez's biggest purse was against Martinez at 3 million

Canelo got only got 5 million (plus upside) against Mayweather

Chavez is scoffing at 23 million dollars? how much does he think he's worth?

he isn't going to make Mayweather money or even Pacquaio money.

I honestly don't think he wants to fight anybody.

junior is just being a little b itch

You really think Arum was going to give him all that.

Their is a reason people want out of Top Rank. They are shady, their contracts are slave contracts, and they only give you the big money fight if you extend. It's criminal to the fighters and the fans.

Can't wait til everyone leaves Arum.

Presumably the rematch clause for $10M was only valid for a certain amount of time and only if Pacquiao chose to exercise it. Pac fought Bradley almost 2 years later so obviously it wouldn't be valid anymore. You're not hearing Bradley complaining. He's obviously happy.

Also, what lies? He doesn't name single a one.

The main sticking point, which caused the fight to fall through, was a clause in the bout agreement which extended Chavez's contractual obligation to Top Rank for two more fights.
I thought the extension was only one fight. That's what both Chavez' manager and Arum have said in various interviews.
