Comments Thread For: Arthur Abraham-Paul Smith Title Showdown in Talks

Arthur Abraham’s promoter Kalle Sauerland says talks have opened with Eddie Hearn for Abraham to defend his WBO World Super Middleweight title against Paul Smith this autumn.

Smith is in eight-round action in Cardiff on Saturday night live on Sky Sports and Sauerland and ‘King Arthur’ will be tuning in as ‘Smigga’ gets a valuable work-out against David Sarabia, with the 32 year old aiming to land his first World title shot against the popular German.

Don't see how anyone can justify Smith deserving a shot at Abraham.

It's like AA's first title run minus the hype. He's happy being a none-elite fighter defending his title locally. That title is in the wind.

Paul Smith is not that bad. Him vs Groves was a very good short fight. He landed his fair shair of punches before he got chinned in the 2nd, and rocked Groves badly at the end of the 1st (unfortunately for him right before the bell).

I'm thinking that Sauerland is in crisis as they are losing their lucrative deal with ARD.

What's more comical? This or the fact that Abraham is a champion at 168.

Why do you single out Smith?

There are ten super middleweights better than this bum Abraham and he gets to call himself a "world champion".

Agree. Always liked Abraham but it seems like he realized after losing badly to Ward and Froch that he'd never be elite and he'd just as soon be a big man in Germany with a fake "paper" belt around his waist, like Sturm, Erdei, Beyer, Zbik, etc. Sauerland is happy feeding him mediocre opposition and seeing the German crowds pour in and watch on TV. It's almost like the minor league of championship boxing

Before criticizing Abraham, ask yourself two questions: Who is a WBC champion?
And against whom P4P fighter like Ward defended his title?
