Comments Thread For: Bob Arum on Mikey Garcia, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

INGLEWOOD, CALIF. --- WBO super-featherweight champion Mikey Garcia filed a lawsuit against Top Rank Promotions last month, saying his promotional agreement with the promotion was illegal and had expired, but apparently Garcia and Top Rank appear to be working things out.

Things don't appear to be going so good with former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who wants to become a free agent, but Top Rank CEO Bob Arum plans to offer him a fight in the coming weeks. Arum would not disclose whom he wants Chavez Jr. to fight.

Jr isn't resigning. Seems like Mikey will, however.

Sooner Garcia gets back in the ring, the better. He has tremendous potential.

Chavez walked away from a two fight deal with Arum.. win or lose against GGG he would of made a minimum of 12million, if he beat GGG he would of got 17 million. All he had to do was fight GGG then give another fight to Arum then after that he was free to do whatever he wanted.

Chavez didn't and shouldn't have to sign a two fight deal if he doesn't want to.

So now we don't get the fight that everyone wanted to see...

This. It would be an endless cycle. He'd try to hold him hostage two fights from now (GGG plus the other, then hold him for his last fight).

Bob blocked the fight, period. He must have felt insecure for GGG, otherwise he'd have made the fight to give GGG a big boost and sacrifice Chavez as an unneeded pawn. It is what it is.

                Arum is not GGG's promoter....

Arum is the one the one ultimately responsible for the cold war. Theirs plenty of guilt on both sides but, Cotto fighting Mayweather within months of leaving Arum says a lot. I think we'll see a lot more Chavez fights and losses once he leaves Arum. Arum definitely greased the axels on his 1st Vera win.

Many people choose to ignore that because it doesn't suit their agenda.
