Cutting off the ring becoming a lost art?

A lot of people get mad when a fighter is boxing, or "running" to them, but I get mad at the other boxer for not being able to cut off the ring. It seems like cutting off the ring is becoming a lost art within the sport of boxing. What do you guys think?

Pretty much been my stance on the subject for years now on NSB.

People are so quick to decide that "so and so is a runner" but dismiss that "so and so's" opponent isn't good enough to catch up to him.

I'll be damned if I blame the better boxer, for being the better boxer. It's not his job to let you hit. If he's "running" go get that mother fucker. Even hear the fighters saying "he didn't want to fight me like a man". Tough shit. Be a man and go drag him into the fight.

It is not a complicated concept to move diagonally to cut off the other guy, it really is not a skill. That guys just follow is kind of puzzling but there are lots of rather ****** fighters who don't think about things like that at all.

Very good point; I thought Maidana did a good job. Lucas also cuts off the ring well as well a Porter Angulo (not too sure about Thurman, he looks lost at times)

          It has somewhat been lost.

some fighters do it quiet well i think Maidana did a decent job against floyd recently. hard to work out if that was more Maidiana's credit or floyd inviting him in to catch him clean. pacqiuao also does it pretty well when he needs too. carl froch is very good at cutting off the ring considering his lousy footwork

anyone who talks about 'running' i just instantly switch off. its boxing, hitting without being hit. why should the more skilled boxer be stigmatised, in the sport of boxing!?

Can't see how one of the most overused themes in all of boxing can be considered a "lost art." JMO.

Boxers suck so bad at it now, that people are actually crying about making the ring smaller to benefit these slow on their feet, skill less brawlers

Exactly! If he's "running" learn how to cut him off and catch him!!

Lol there would be no need if boxers know how to cut the ring off

Yeah, Maidana did a very good job of it against Floyd. Made it a great fight

Yeah, most suck at it then have the nerve to say someone ran (Robert Guerrero come to mind)
