Who are/were the top US bad asses?

In the UK Roy Shaw and Lenny Mclean are considered among the tougest hard men/street fighters/bare knuckle boxers whatever you want to call it, that have ever lived. i've never really heard of many from the US, apart from that Kimo Slice guy, but he's nowhere near as good as shaw or Mclean. so can anyone enlighten me?

if ur on about charles bronson yah he is,hes married now and claiming to be a reformed character but they wont let him out cause hes several rolls short of a picnic,the strange thing is he got sent so prison for only a few weeks for pinching a loaf of bread and has never seen the outside ever again
