Hatton free to fight


WBA/IBF light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton will not have to fight WBA No.1 contender Souleymane M'baye in his next bout.

The French WBA No.1 contender had hoped to force Hatton to defend his WBA title against him next but in a New York court yesterday M'baye's lawyer Judd Burstein withdrew from forcing any action against the undefeated 27 year-old.

Hatton is now free to face whoever he chooses and promoters Fight Academy along with American partner Arthur Pellulo expect to make an announcement within the next 24 hours. Hatton had hoped to face WBC welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir but the tough Argentine brawler is said to have priced himself out of the fight.

Rumours are circling America that Ricky Hatton's opponent when he starts his invasion of America in May will be Vivian Harris.

There are also strong indications that Hatton will then take on Arturo Gatti in July with both of the fights being shown on HBO.

Fight Academy have announced that there is important news at a press conference this morning so we will keep you updated with the news.

He always blows up after a fight then loses it all when training. I really hope he does fight Vivian Harris, I think Vivian will be up to fight, he has a lot to prove and overcome. But Freites will be good too though

He damn near looked morbidly obese... that's a slight stretch, but he was rockin' a double chin, and his face in general looked very chubby. That was my first thought when I saw him.
