I went to Diaz-Malignaggi II by myself. It was the first fight I attended live and it was a lot of fun! I got there as soon as the doors opened, so I sat by myself for a bunch of fights, but when it got closer to the televised fights and people starting piling in the seats, I was chatting it up with everyone around me. Everyone was cool as hell. Me and the two guys next to me had a couple beers and talked boxing the entire time and I had a lot of fun. So no, I don't think it's weird at all. I would definitely recommend you go to the fights. Even if you are by yourself you will end up talking to the people next to you and having a great time.

I do all the time. I'll go to Vegas with a few people but buy a ticket only for myself. Also I go to local amateur and pro fights by my damn self.

You'll be surprised at who you could meet. At the MGM I sat next to some dude from Austrailia and we had a short discussion about Mundine, Geale, Soliman, etc.

I was also at the bar having breakfast with Team Thurman when he fought on the untelevised undercard of Mayweather vs. Cotto.

I've done it on many many occasions, some of my friends haven't been the kindest when a fellow boxer friend of mine came off a loss, so in his next fight I've had to go alone.

If you can make it there do go, because regretting it later will only make things worse.

Like someone said, the only time it will really matter if you're alone or not is during the untelivised fights, when it's real slow. That's when you're gonna have the most time to chat. Once the real show starts you're barely gonna have time to talk to anyone. Unless you have some Abril vs Vazquez type fight in the ring.

None of my mates are really boxing fans either, but tell them your going to get drunk and watch people punch each other and they end up coming along.

I prefer going on my own because then you don't have so much of a risk of turning your head to someone who's talking to you and then missing a knock down or knock out because you just looked away. That's happened to me a few times. Go solo and pretend you're deaf.
