Comments Thread For: Team Geale Confirm Golovkin Talks For July Clash

The cancellation of a bout later this month could have a potential silver lining for Daniel Geale, with the chance of a mid-year super fight with WBA middleweight boxing world champion Gennady Golovkin.

Geale's clash with Britain's Matthew Macklin in Texas on May 24 fell through, after an injury to main event fighter Mike Perez caused the promotion to be canned.

Earlier this year, Geale turned down an April bout against Golovkin, because there would have been no Australian TV coverage of the bout on he scheduled date.

Golovkin didn't end up fighting in April following the death of his father, but is committed to a July date on American pay TV network HBO.

Perfect fight for both.Geale,Kessler then Murray,if Sergio has other plans or another huge cash draw after Cotto.

Murray will fight in June, November and next February in Monte Carlo.if GGG takes Geale in July,Mikkel in November then Murray is perfectly placed for next February.

One hopes the Martinez fight can happen, before he calls it a wrap.

Good fight - it sounded probable with the way Geale had been talking in front of the potential Apr clash.

I know it didn't look particularly good for Geale, but his previous reasons for not fighting Golovkin have been understandable in financial terms. For my money Geale's about as good as it gets at 160 behind Maravilla and perhaps Sturm.

Ha, this is part of his unfinished business - next will be barker, then Andy Lee, felix sturm, martin murray, and the sad thing about it is non of these fighters styles will prepare him for the nxt level.

Lol,yeh like Geale is really scared and has been running from Gennady hasn't he !

Geale has in the last 18 months faced on Aussie ppv Woods and Mundine, two fights by far more financially rewarding than 300 thousand dollars he would earn facing GGG,i wouldnt know the exact figures he earned, though i presume Daniel wouldnt get out of bed every morning for 3 months to earn 300k.Felix Sturm offered Barker a million for him to bring his title to Germany,i fully expect Geale was paid the same amount too.

Is it any different to what Sergio is doing against Cotto, earning BIG money before cashing out ?

Also Geale had a legitimate reason why he refused to face Gennady in April.

Whether you choose to accept this or not is of no consequence or concern to anyone but yourself.but those are the facts.

Hmm ...I think GGGs probably too much the gentleman to drag Barker outta retirement.

Busted hip? Keep up with the news man.

But yeah ... none of them will prepare him for Dre if that's your angle. Before that he needs to establish a solid reputation and get in a coupla decent SMW fights of the Bika, Kessler or JCC Jr level.

inb4 every single Golovkin hater was calling for a Geale fight just like they were with Macklin before it happened and now that it might be a possibility they will never mention Geale again, only until he gets KO'd if they do fight and its going to be that he is another bum and Golovkin needs to fight "(Insert_random fighter here)" and the cycle continues

It's time for the myth of GGG to start crumbling piece by piece. Thought Geale was scared to death of Golovkin?
