Rumors have it that if Sergio were to win in his fight with Cotto, then Manny might be interested in that 160 belt. I was wondering if there's a rule saying that if Manny were to fight for this belt, does he also have to weigh in close to that weight? Since Manny fought Margarito while he was around 148-150 and Margarito was 165 (fight night), would Manny be able to do the same going for this belt? If he wanted, could he be around 147-50 and fight for that 160 belt or is there a rule stating that he'd need to be close to that weight at least? If Manny were to fight Sergio for the 160 belt, I'd only like to see it if it was at 160 and not a catchweight.

Wasn't Roy Jones Jr like 190 when he fought Ruiz?
I don't think there's a rule pertaining to stuff like that.

Cool, so then if Manny happened to actually accept the fight for 160 then if he wanted to weigh in what he always does, he seems he would be able to. Thanks. I think he could do it.Comment

so he could die or crippled?? weight class was created so that the heavier fighter does not fight a smaller fighter.
in the old days there're only few weightclasses and the risk of incident is so high so boxing commission create more division so the risk of people dying in the ring became less, but it still not enough.
and now you want 147 fighter fight with 160 fighter???Comment
