If you're not part of the nielson's select sample with a meter box, you're not counted. Doesn't matter if you leave the TV on. There's only 23,000 households whose viewing habits are tracked and the ratings are extrapolated from them.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 05-10-2014, 03:36 PM.Comment

How does this accurately report sports like boxing then? I mean widely popular tv shows, movies, and sports sure, but boxing which has a pretty direct audience.
How many Mexicans, Old white dudes and poor blacks have a ****ing Nielsen box?Comment

Well, the box is not something you buy in a store. Presumably Nielson tries to gives those specific demographic an appropriate number of boxes relative to their share of the population. People get paid to have their viewing habits monitored. Doesn't matter if you're rich or poor.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 05-10-2014, 03:54 PM.Comment

I don't think the fight has been promoted well by the network or the promoters. The venue is at a university campus which is a bit of a signaling factor to the magnitude of the fight as well. It's the Heavyweight title fight, WBC belt on the line it should be BIG TIME
I've seen 2 commercials for this and they were youtube pre-roll's that were in Spanish. I think it's a lackluster effort on all sides to promote the event. It's cool that ESPN has a little willingness to get in on the big time boxing game but if they're going to base their future efforts on how this fight goes, it wont be good.Comment
