I'd give cotto the edge. Prime Shane Mosley, trumps all of Floyd's ww win. Easily.

Forgive me but I assume you are referring to cotto win over Mosley? My bad if my assumption is incorrect.

i don't think in the late 70's and 80's, fmj, beings that he's mainly a small welter compared to srl and hearns, and a defensive fighter, would not be the cash cow of the sport...he would be the best fighter ya never heard of, and there was no money at lightweight back then...

back then it was the offensive fighters starting @ 147 who brought the dough...so i think, fmj, would have no other choice but to move up and face those hard hittin, natural welterweight guys for the big paydays, or fight in obscurity @ lightweight...duran moved up, went 1-2 against srl, and lost to hearns and hagler...fmj, would have to hope that srl, and hearns, would find it difficult to hit him...i just don't see it...

The whole division?? Or do you mean the fighters that were on his former promotional company that was owned by a guy who owed him money? Those guys? To say he ducked the "whole" division is misleading. I am not going to get into a debate over who ducked who and why because that can be done to any fighters resume. I am not defending Floyd but to put a spotlight on Floyd's career and disregard the thousands of other fighters who might have missed an opponent here and there is not objective at all. As I previously stated there are numerous reasons why certain fighters don't fight and being "afraid" isn't one of them.

Mosley who had just come down from JMW was in his prime? Most people thought that fight was a draw. That was a very close fight in my opinion. Let me ask you this, was that Mosley who wasn't #1 at WW, had no title, wasn't on the p4p list I believe either, you are saying Cotto fighting a close fight with that Mosley is better than Mayweather dominating the #1 Ranked WW Mosley who just obliterated Margarito and was #3 on the P4P list??
