Chavez could of signed a 1 fight extension, it couldn't of been that bad could it? He would of been good financially..
Chavez turned down a deal that would***39;ve paid him a minimum of $12 million( where he didn***39;t have to win a single rd of either fight) #boxing

So people can talk about the Martinez numbers...but there's the reality is, two years ago, Junior could draw 14,000 to the Alamodome against Rubio...and this year, he only did half that number for the Vera rematch (and the first Vera rematch only drew like 4,000...you could see all the empty seats during the fight, and Lampley mentioned it during the fight).
Junior's name ain't what it used to be.
He can obviously rebuild it, but we'll see how he does...he's not off to a great start.Last edited by Mitchell Kane; 05-10-2014, 12:23 AM.

Unless Haymon has told him the $47 mil deal only happens if he doesn't take the GGG fight, it just doesn't make sense. Jr is being offered double his best ever purse (Maravilla) guaranteed in two successive fights - one of them a TBA - despite a loss and a lacklustre performance (and probable gift) against a journeyman - and that's a slave contract?
I mentioned this the other day before seeing any figures and co-incidentally pulled out $2.5 mil as about the right purse without an extension - based on the $3mil he got against Maravilla. I can't see what the problem with that is, but the promised $12 - 17 mil for just 2 fights sounds to me like a great deal given Jrs actual ability.
What I do find a bit fishy is the huge disparity, between the the 1 and 2 fight deals - I can understand Bob wanting to offer more with the extension, but it's clear he coulda pulled out more than $2.5 mil for the single fight if he'd chosen.
