  • Comments Thread For: Juan Diaz: Ray Beltran Turned Down June 28 Bout

Two days ago BoxingScene.com reported that a fight between former WBA/IBF/WBO lightweight champion Juan Diaz and WBO #1 rated contender Ray Beltran was nearly finalized for June 28th. Diaz had told BoxingScene.com that he had already agreed to the fight that was going to serve as the co-feature to the title tilt between WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford and Yuriorkis Gamboa. The winner of the Diaz-Beltran bout would likely have faced the winner of the main event in their next fight.

Wtf is wrong with Ray Beltran? A big fight on the "big stage" and he turns it down. This fight could've done a lot for his career. Dumbass

I don't blame him. They owe him a title shot and he should hold out till he gets it.

He was probably going to get set up to be a patsy for Diaz, I don't think Nebraska has a strong commission, Diaz is the bigger name, and Beltran has been jobbed a bunch so what is one more time.

Probably a wise move to not catch a loss, but this sort of move is not going to help him get more fights especially the sort of fights he wants.

I tjink Diaz would have just beat him straight up anyway. But that depends on how much the Baby Bull has left after so many wars and the retirement.
