Comments Thread For: Crawford, Gamboa Trade Words During Omaha Presser

Everything was civil for most of Thursday’s press session in Omaha, Nebraska to help promote the June 28 lightweight title showdown between defending champ and hometown favorite Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

The bout, which airs live on HBO, will take place at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, the first title fight in 42 years, when Joe Frazier knocked out Ron Stander in their 1972 heavyweight championship bout.

It should be the other way around then. If it stays tactical then Crawford takes it. If a brawl breaks out, Gamboa has a better chance.

I think it will be a rather boring fight Crawford is going to have to be cautious and use his range to avoid Gamboa's explosiveness. I think Crawford will move and jab while Gamboa will be forced to throw hayemakers from long distance.

                    Crawford 5'8" with a 70 inch reach
                    Gamboa 5'5"+ with a 65 inch reach

That is a pretty devastating range advantage for a guy who like to move and fight on the outside, if Gamboa can overcome that against a quality guy like Crawford he deserves a lot of praise.
