Why do people use Marquez as a measuring stick?

Promotors, managers, trainers, & fans all want to throw their fighters in the ring with Juan Manuel, but why? Is it because they see him as the easiest path to making it on the p4p list? Easy money? I think its funny because itd be pretty embarassing to see my fighter lose to a 40+ year old man and according to most (haters) on NSB Marquez aint an ATG so why the risk if supposedly aint all that?
