Haymon brought him up. He had the one good win over Njkam and thats it, other than some tough journeyman like Echols or Zuniga
how did quillin get in the position he is now

Quillin got into the position he's in through luck and careful matchmaking. He's very lucky that Martinez was stripped of his WBO belt for that silly reason. Then Pirog won the belt. Then the belt was given to Ndam, a Rubio level guy. Quillin then managed to drop Ndam six times and still lose a large number of rounds. All of Quillin's opponents before and after the Ndam fight have been soft. Quillin is basically a Rubio level guy with a bit of power. If Martinez had never been stripped of his belt and Quillin had never gotten the belt, Quillin wouldn't even be seen as a relevant contender.Comment

N'Dam out worked him for pretty much the entire fight but he just kept getting dropped
I can't remember if he was ever badly hurt or not. Reckless more than anything. Poor guy got absolutely shafted by his manager after that fight.Comment

Quillen got to where he is on juice.
Whenever someone asks him why USADA stopped drug testing during his fight with Wright he has no answer, and either does golden boy.
They caught him juicing, everyone knows it, dirty mother fcker. Haymons whole lineup is dirty.Comment

Yep, I remember N'Dam winning damn near every round where he didn't get dropped.Comment

I'm not even a fan of Quillin, but man, nobody is gonna say he's in this position because he worked hard?
When he was a prospect, he was trashing the boxers he was supposed to, while prospects like Stevens were losing to journeymen. He then beat N'dam, and regardless if he lost most of the rounds, he dropped N'dam six times and beat him fair and square.Comment

If Quillin didn't have major stamina problems, and wasn't rumored to have blown up to 180 before the Rosado fight, it would be easier to believe that he works very hard. I'm sure he works reasonably hard, but the way he fights and how much he weighs indicate he may have some discipline issues. Quillin also annoys a lot of people by parading about with his belt and fighting low level opponents.I'm not even a fan of Quillin, but man, nobody is gonna say he's in this position because he worked hard?

Given his limited boxing abilities, he must work hard, or he must have worked hard at least earlier in his career. If Quillin didn't have major stamina problems, and wasn't rumored to have blown up to 180 before the Rosado fight, it would be easier to believe that he works very hard. I agree, some of his interviews annoy me too. I hear stuff like "This is a business- Al Haymon- If the money is right- Get paid" way too often. I don't wanna hear that from a world champion.
However, this is not a reason to downplay his -modest- accomplishments. People talk like he got a gift decision when he won his belt.Comment
