Is Matthyse a more polished version of Maidana?

First Maidana is compared to Margarito and now Lucas. He doesnt fight like either.

Margarito and Matthysse are textbook punchers with unlimited stamina, Maidana is anything but textbook and stamina is his main weakness

Moving up would be a terrible move for Matthysse his chin does not look like it used to.

In the past I would have easily said yes, but Maidana has really improved under Robert Garcia. Matthysse does throw straighter punches. One area where Matthysse is clearly better than Maidana is defense. I'd say Matthysse is still better than Maidana, but the gap has definitely closed somewhat. I also can't recall a recent instance of Matthysse feinting, whereas Maidana has done that a lot recently.

I would like to see that fight in the pros, Chino already beat Lucas 3 times in the amateurs. Chino is faster and awkward, also smarter. Lucas also has bad balance he trips over himself when throwing looping punches.

Maidana's awkward right hook to the side of the head would KO Matthysse IMO. Look at what John Molina's right hook did to Matthysse. Almost stopped him.

He seems to be Maidana with more skills and more pure power in his punches. But that doesnt make him better or worse for that matter. Maidana's limitations are what make him a good FIGHTER. They're both very violent in their approach though. I suppose it's like.. Maidana is a hurricane and Lucas is a tornado.


Personally I think Lucas is a better boxer and fighter. But Maidana is such a brute at times that it somehow works. Though he does have skills hes shown and isn't as brutish as he appears.

The only things that Maidana and Matthysse have in common is that they're both hard punching boxers from Argentina whose last names start with the letter M.

Stylistically, they're nothing alike.

Matthysse is much more polished and technical in his savagery.
