Comments Thread For: Sam Peter Injured, Withdraws Fron Super 8 Tourney

A calf injury has forced former WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter to withdraw from the SUPER 8 Last Man Standing tournament on June 4.

The injury, similar to the one that saw David Tua rescheduling his 2013 bout with Alexander Ustinov, occurred two weeks ago but hasn’t progressed enough for Peter’s manager Ivaylo Gotez.

Sam Peter gave Wlad one of his toughest fights in 2005.

This tournament is what's wrong with boxing and society. Washed up fighters and a lot of bums with no chins who are there to be knocked out for a sadistic viewing public.

This is why I only watch high-level competition when it comes to boxing.

Yah 2005 was a very, very long time ago in boxing years. Wlad was still building his confidence and new "clinching style" at the time.

Peter was my favorite heavyweight when he came up as a big puncher and he fought a great fight against Wlad. After that he never was the same though and he is shot for years now.

i don't think the tournament is wrong. i think the level of compitition in the hvwt division now days is wrong.

dang i was hoping to see an out of shape sam peters go ballistic for a round or two.
