"This fight is just as good, maybe better than Garcia-Gamboa," Arum said. "We just couldn't live with Mikey's financial demands. A lot of it was fueled by other people, who told him that Gamboa was getting $1.5 million and he was only getting $750,000, which was ludicrous and wrong. But we made a good fight here. Gamboa does have a lot of power, but like most Cuban fighters he's very cautious and a very good boxer. Crawford is a superb boxer.
How Bob airs out Mikey's dirty laundry so easily now that he and Mikey are on a spat ...douche move BOB. Now he praises Gamboa after not two months ago imploding the Gamboa vs Mikey fight himself by talking ****... now he saying the reason was that Mikey was being an ignorant dumbass and thats why it fell through...what a 2 faced douche. If mikey didn't know the real number it was probably Bob's own doing dirty negotiating to try to get an extension out of Mikey. Now he says Gamboa vs Crawford are the 2 best around blablablah i hate this 2 faced fker XD

I'm hearing Carlos (Yuri's father) will be Gamboa's trainer. That does not bode well at all. I was hoping Yuri would bring in a serious professional trainer for this fight. I'm of the belief that at least some of the blame for Gamboa's lackluster recent performances is due to his lack of quality coaching. This is the biggest fight of Yuri's career. He has to be as sharp as he's capable of being. I don't think that can happen with his dad in his corner.

I'm not going to get into what promotional company is better because all we would be beating is the bones of a horse BUT you may have a point. Like I said hopefully this changes Cuba produces some good talent and being that it is hard to display because they cannot go pro it is garbage that even when they do they don't get fights. smh

Agreed. How long could this fight have taken to make? It feels like the Garcia fight fell through just yesterday, and here's Yuri turning around and signing a fight with Crawford. With Mikey it was this big back-and-forth, with everything falling apart despite Gamboa publicly stating he'd fight for "whatever." In the end, all that's required to make a fight are two willing bodies. If there's any reluctance whatsoever, the excuses to blame are countless.

I still enjoy boxing, but it's just not the same sport I grew up loving. The promotional nonsense is a big reason the sport is losing appeal. Fans go way too long without having a big fight to watch. To cite the aborted Garcia-Gamboa once more, nothing would've prevented that fight from happening years ago. People can say whatever they want about Canelo, but he took a difficult fight he didn't have to take in Lara. We need more guys like Saul to keep this sport alive.

I agree wholeheartedly. Hopefully the up and comers take notice.

                  Delighted with this.

I fully believe Crawford is too one-paced to beat Gamboa. The hand and foot speed mixed with explosiveness will give him real problems. Inactivity will be a concern, but that's my only one.

Looking bad for Garcia atm, ducked Gamboa once again.

Yeah, I never say a fighter ducked another fighter, but it sure looks like the case here. Crawford and Gamboa got this fight done overnight, while it all dragged out for Mikey and fell apart in the end. Why? Arum? Maybe. But Bob is now blaming Garcia for the fight not happening. I certainly don't believe everything Arum has to say, but it was looking like Mikey was to blame even before Bob pointed a finger at him. Whatever...WAR GAMBOA!
