    worst corner advice

whats the worst corner advice you ever heard? I was just watching some Trinidad fights and, trinidad sr. had me laughing

"Hit him hard with your punches!"

"Use your right hand. And also use your left hand!"

"Just keep what you're doing, you're winning!" vs hopkins

    "Punch him with your fists"

"Don't get hit by his punches. You hit him!"

lou duva in the chavez-taylor bout is another candidate

i agree tito is one of my favorite fighters of all time and i agree with you 100 % his dad gave him horrible advice especially in his fights with hopkins and winky he might as well fought those fights w/o a corner...but one positive thing his dad did was to have good people around him and he always looked out for his best interest that is why tito is one of the few people that had don king as a promoter and is not broke or suing king..

pretty much all the advice that Sam Peter got from his corner in his fight with Wlad Klitschko was borderline hilarious. i dont remember specific quotes, but his corner was completely inept.

especially in contrast with the way that manny steward ran Wlads corner that fight. he was so calm sometimes he didnt say anything but "beautiful job, youre boxing him beautiful" its hilarious in retrospect and probably the main reason Peter made changes.

The advice Rahman got from his corner during the rematch with Lennox Lewis was pretty terrible. The advice Tito Trinidad got from Papa Trinidad in his fight with Winky Wright was very ****ty as well.

He wasn't speaking to his trainer leading up to the fight though, maybe the trainer did it on purpose.

LOL, I forgot about that. Seriously though, why would he tell him that?

It's not bad advice, but I remember in DLH-Vargas, Floyd Mayweather Sr. was out of ideas and told Oscar, "Just...BEAT HIS ASS!" pretty funny stuff

On another note, the best advice I ever saw a trainer give a fighter was Dan Birmingham telling Winky Wright, "Stop touching ****in gloves with him; this isn't a sparring session! You can be ****in friends after the fight!" in the first Mosley fight. I love that quote.
