  • Could Floyd be the most over rated fighter of all time?

Obviously he's a talented fighter who makes other professionals look terrible on a lot of occasions.
Question is,with him not fighting another great fighter in their prime since Diego/Castillo in about 2003 does he get too much credit for beating lower level fighters or washed up big named guys?
Seriously, Oscar was a shell and gave him a good scrap. Mosely same thing and almost put him down with one shot. Cotto gave him a really competitive fight. Maidana who is a crude middle of the road skill wise guy gave him problems.
He didn't fight Williams,Margarito,Manny, or Prime Cotto because of retirement.
After draining Canelo and pulling that glove crap with Maidana I just really second guess his so called greatness.
I'm not a hater just stating my opinion on Floyd.

Yes he is the most overrated, he was able to get casual boxing fans belive his hype and yes Flowmos are casuals they don't follow the sport they just see Floyd all over TV and claiming to be the best, so they believe it. He carefully guided his career and avoided the best threats in their prime.

his ducking of Pacquiao shows his cherry picking ways and how people actually think he isn't ducking and buy his reasoning makes me shake my head.

He is the only fighter in history who openly admits hei s scared for his health.

His resume sucks. He's a hall of famer border line all time great. Never going to be the best ever with his ducking and whining.

I think its clear after last night that the fantasy fight arguments his fans always use to justify his ducks are just baseless. He would have stopped maidana on paper just like he would have UD'd prime cotto, pac and margarito who i believe to be his true peers in his legacy.

Styles make fights and Maidana has the style that will trouble any veteran fighter. Floyd fought Hatton off a little better, but that was 7 years ago. Floyd is human.

He won a tough, entertaining, close fight. Maidana was never the bum he was made out to be. No more, no less.

Styles make fights. After watching last night, it's obvious why Mayweather ducked guys like Margarito. He doesn't deal well with true pressure fighters that are physically and mentally strong. I wouldn't call Mayweather over rated. He is actually an ATG but last nights performance definitely hurts his claim as "TBE".

I don't know how well he would fair against other ATGs around that weight class like "Hands of Stone", Pac and JCC, considering their high output styles combined with superior skill (compared to Maidana).

Floyd has cleverly marketed himself as greater than he really is in an effort to became "philthy rich" and all power and credit to him for running an enormously successful business model.

However, a little bit of damage has been done to the TMT/TBE brand and it is very likely that the company may take a hit in the sales department.

Floyd isn't even the greatest fighter of his generation.

I talked to a guy yesterday before the fight (not on NSB) who was telling me how Floyd is the greatest of all time and won his titles by beating Tyson, the Klitschkos, Pacquaio, some tricky "Spanish" guys named Jose, Gonzolez and Hernando, etc.

Floyd knows one thing and that's this: 99% of the money in boxing comes from casual viewers who have no idea wtf they're watching and just want an excuse to chug beer and boo at something. He has mastered the art of showing these people how much money he has in order for them to assume he must be amazing, then give him more money.
