This is nothing unusual to be honest. It's just strange because it happened so close to the fight. A lot of times in the past, the A-side would CHOOSE the opponents gloves. Lennox Lewis was just saying this on Twitter, that he normally chose his opponents gloves. Anyone remember Oscar choosing Floyd's gloves at 154 lbs (even though Floyd never fought there before)?

I think the main thing is that it just disrupts Maidana's preference of glove. But 8 oz gloves, are powerful and HURT no matter the brand. And that's not to say that there isn't differences between brands, because there are. But 8 oz gloves are no joke no matter what.

No man. Even at the same 8oz two gloves can be completely different.
With the technology you have today, you can make foam that completely absorbs the power of a punch. I'm talking about an inch of foam preventing you from breaking your hand even when punching a concrete floor slab full force. You can have that, or you can have horsehair padding which while still legal transmits a lot more of the energy. It makes all the difference in the world.

AND HE STILL PULLED IT OUT!! Had he been allowed to use the punchers gloves we know he would have hurt floyd. Punches that graced had a softer impact (heavy foam) compared to a stronger end glove (horse hair/thinner).

its their fault entirely. they were only forced to wear those gloves because they didnt have enough back up gloves, a fighter usually chooses at the very least thee pairs of gloves in case his opponent rejects the others. which by the way happens rather often, sick of people pretending this is some new stunt floyd came up with that nobody ever did before.

at the end of the day what really matters is the actual gloves and none of us laid our eyes on them so who knows. hell, most people around here wouldnt even know if they were fine or not if they did get a look at them.

As a Mayweather fan I found it really unacceptable with this gloves stuff! I don't mind them refusing a glove for not having enough padding but I don't like it when you tell someone else what sort or type of gloves your opponent would be wearing.

What the **** are you talking about you crackhead? None of that happened. They rejected several pairs of the blue MX gloves, then all of the red MX gloves the commission agreed on, then they rejected Cleto Reyes, then apparently several more pairs until they finally got to "choose" between Everlast's "maximum hand protection" line and Grants from Floyd's camp, a guy who injects painkillers into his fists before his fights and has a KO ratio of 49%.

The commission approved the red MX's it was the orginal blue custom made MX's that was rejected because custom gloves wasn't stipulated in the contract , but they didn't want Maidana wearing punchers gloves, they even didn't want him wearing cloto reyes gloves.

Make sure to boycott all future Mayweather fights for pulling this bull****. He knows people can't say anything since the fight is over now, so this is the only way it will affect him by affecting his future sales. Don't buy any of his fights, period.
