Floyd supposedly choosing to brawl with a puncher

It is actually fine to admit that another opponent took you off your game. Maidana is a pressure fighter and a good puncher. Respect the game and respect your opponent.

Now on the other hand to say "I brawled because I wanted to give the fan what they wanted," while only a day earlier you were trying to take away Maidana's Everlast MX gloves is insulting to my ears and fans. He essentially tried to overrule NSAC and threatened to quit the fight over retail Everlast gloves that many boxers use because "safety comes first." (cancelling a fight isn't exactly fan friendly). But then he gets caught in a dog fight... then its I did it for the fans.

There is absolutely no integrity there. The story of this fight after this fight was: Floyd was in a highly competitive match with Maidana. Why? Was Maidana a better fighter then people expected? Is Floyd a little bit older and more overrated then people expected. Or is it styles makes fights and Maidana has a difficult style to predict, counter, etc.

What are you thoughts on Floyd supposedly choosing to "fight for the fans."

Floyd did not choose that fight. What a performance from Maidana.

I had it a draw but I'm sure Floyd makes it easy next time.

People will probably believe he chose to fight that way, too. He clearly didn't, Maidana just threw him.

I believe he did stand and trade to make it exciting. He has said he will do it before and has done it. Guerrero was saying no way he stands in front of me, Floyd said he would and he did....the glove thing is just ridiculous, the commission didn't accept them for a reason...dead subject.

I know no boxer wants to get punched in the face, that much I know, (why didnt he let Canelo punch him some, win a few rounds to make it more interesting?) and no sane person would let Maidana hit him on purpose. Even with pillow gloves any punch you let Chino land on you can level you. I think Floyd isnt as young as he used to be either and he was never as talented as he wants everybody to believe, other than his great defense. I think Maidana has massive balls, guts, power, stamina and good enough boxing IQ and I think that at the end of the day boxing isnt chess but about two guys beating each other. There's just so much Floyd can do, he's getting old and he probably though Maidana was a cherry like Canelo. He was wrong.

I don't think he needed to say that. I like watching him fight inside. One of the best short range fighters in the sport.

But he did. It seems to me like he felt he needed to do damage control. But there is no real reason why, except to preempt fans and media thinking he is not unbeatable. But there is nothing wrong with being human. I think it shows bad character.
