I was thinking the same thing. Utterly ridiculous to suggest Mayweather would have easily beaten Margarito after last night.

He has ducked the best over the years and his legions of trolls kept on making excuses for himn

he had to rig a fight to beat chino, everyone saw he lost that fight, thats 2 he has lost now but got gifts

Floyd is b level, he is all hype, a prime margo, mosley, cotto and pac would have killed this guy, especially pac, I finally understand why the floyd fans want no part of pac

he lost to freaking chino, a guy who was outboxed by khan for christ sake...
I mentioned this last night to a friend. Floyd ducking Margarito was one of the biggest ducks in boxing history. Margarito was slow but he threw so many punches he would have been catching Floyd. Of course every big fight that doesnt happen according to Floyd is always the other guys fault.

he wasn't 37 years old when the margarito talk was really buzzing. margarito's peak was the cotto fight, imo, which was six years ago. floyd mayweather was a completely different fighter six years ago.

maidana is also much, much faster than margarito. he hits harder, too. margarito had better stamina, a steadier approach, and the best chin i've ever seen on a welterweight.

margarito also clearly loaded his gloves for a portion of his career. that probably includes the cotto fight. who knows what kind of power he actually possessed.

i don't think it's being recognized that floyd mayweather was a much, much better fighter 5-10 years ago. he had the legs to post up in the center of the ring, and the reflexes to make you pay for almost everything you threw.

So now people are mentioning fantasy fights with prime fighters versus 37-year-old Mayweather. Prime Margarito wouldn't do squat to a PRIME Mayweather. Let's be fair.

You're correct, but all of Floyd's antics highlighted Floyd's insecurity and reasoning for him ducking fights like Margo and PAC.

You're right because Floyd would run like a ***** and never fight him

If you believe Floyd would have retreated to the ropes against Maidana in 2006...you clearly didn't watch Floyd in his latter prime. He would have moved and moved and moved. Margarito was much much slower, though he had a great chin, but Maidana probably hits harder IMO.

Would have been competitive, but Floyd was a wayyyy better fight 8 years ago.
