The gloves aren't banned. NSAC approved both pairs of gloves, one of which has traditional horsehair padding. There is nothing unusual about that at all -- horsehair gloves are used every weekend, all the time. Mayweather's people objected to Maidana's selection of the horsehair gloves, arguing that the padding could be moved off the knuckles more easily. NSAC said both were approved, so it was up to the respective camps to settle the matter.
