Padding is to protect the hand of the puncher, not the punched, it doesn't help any. Floyd should know this, it's freaking common boxing knowledge.

While I agree with the MMA thing, because some boxing gloves have no more padding over the knuckles then MMA gloves, some boxing gloves have a lot of padding over the knuckles. Your lying to yourself if you think there isn't a difference.

There really isn't. a crisp punch with steam with either snap you back or you will eat it solidly, regardless of bare knuckle or 18 oz gloves, gloves minimize cuts that would be produced from openings on mma gloves and bare hands, but they are there for the punchers wrist and fist. The difference is so minimal its virtually nonexistant, especially at the elite level.

It's the equivalent of stopping mid round in a sparring session because you are cramping. It's a BS cop out excuse.
