The thing is I've actually heard the 'hairy chin protector' argument brought forward before - the scratching and opening of cuts I can kinda accept (the BBBofC requires fighters to be beardless for, in my understanding, just that reason), but the idea that it might reduce the impact of punches (significantly - that is - of course there will be a miniscule effect) just makes m p1ss my sides.
