If Canelo can keep winning big fights and get bigger, he can be the next guy to "carry the sport".

History disproves this notion time and time again. When the current line-up of stars retire the fans will direct their attention onto the next.

I can see Canelo but that's it.

When Oscar was winding down, Pacquiao and Mayweather had been involved in PPV's that did over 300-400K, much like Canelo.

Perhaps Keith Thurman could become a star if he beats the top guys and dethrones Mayweather in the end or something.

Canelo looks like it but he has a very tough fight coming up

If Canelo can somehow manage to beat Lara, and then at some point in the near future fights Cotto on PPV which would generate big buys, he'll probably be a legit "star".

Red K for insinuating boxing is dying.

Thurman needs another good showing against a top 10 guy, a fight with Robert Guerrero would give us a good idea of where he stands in the WW division. If he manages to put Guerrero away impressively then I can see a possible passing of the torch fight between him and Mayweather taking place.

That would be a very good fight. I would like that.
