Showtime/gbp is going to be in the red after this card is all said and done. Why? Schaefer and Floyd stated that this is the most expensive Boxing card in the history of the sport. First of all I never called it a "bum deal". Your words not mine. Simply put there is no reason to believe Floyd would have followed through on the 40M to start with but if he did....
if a PPV costs 70 dollars cable companies take half, that make 35 every buy. Everyone saying 40M(pac alone) without PPV is a bum deal. Would you please substantiate it with some math numbers please, because i honestly cant see any crime with the numbers i come up with. I hear peeps claiming that 40M is bogus with such certainty that i double dare anyone to substantiate it with some hypothetical numbers. Enlighten me please...

I outlined above how the fight can easily generate 250 million dollars. Assuming half goes to the TV broadcasters that leaves 125 million to split.
There is no 20% promoters fee being paid out of the total purse if they fought either. It'd have to be GBP promoted and Arum would have to settle for a cut of Pac's money to step aside. Any of those monies would be paid out separate of each other - after the initial split.
Anyhow my point wasn't that 40 mill was a horrible offer. Moreson that I see them having 120 mill to split if they fought and Pac would be settling for 80 million vs 40 million.
That is probably why Floyd felt confident in making the offer. He knew there was little chance of it being accepted when Pac's team actually looked at the money the fight would generate.
You're implication is that when making 40 million it's not a big deal to leave 10-15 million dollars on the table. That's more than the vast majority of boxers make in their entire careers.Comment
