The only reason that action by boxingrec makes sense is because the MW division is running a little thin on competition.

If you look at the list of competitors, it becomes obvious that there's only a few who would be considered close to top-tier. So, for now and since GGG is making so much noise and Quillen is running stagnant by fighting lower tiered opponents, the spot belongs to GGG.

Now in regards to Sergio -- Even with a win over Cotto, his time is running out so his spot will be up for grabs anyway. So, why wait to bring the new crop of champs to the forefront.

Haters hate but facts are facts. Highest KO ratio in the HISTORY of the MW division, HIGHEST KO percentage amongst active champions. TOP 10 P4P ESPN (biggest sports network in America) and #1 MW IN THE WORLD on the biggest boxing records site today.

Not to mention, he was named as the most FEARED / AVOIDED fighter by ESPN this year. He's got all the top names shook. That's why he is being recognized as one of the greatest fighters of our generation and of all time. Glad to see the media recognize it!!!

I think that's stretching it quite a bit!!!

He still need to get some notable scalps on his resume and sustain his winning streak, before anyone can honestly start thinking about GGG's rankings among the GOAT.

Surprised they would remove Martinez from the rankings given that he has a fight scheduled.

As a poster noted above... lol Boxrec.

How when all the top / recognizable names keep ducking him?

He is going to have to fight WHOEVER is willing to step inside a ring with him. That's why I have a lot of respect for Chavez Jr. He is ASKING / PURSUING a fight with the biggest monster in the sport. That's a real man right there.

LOL, he has been inactive for a year and a half and has a fight lined up already...it's not like he has been offered a GGG fight multiple times over the past year while he has been fighting other guys.

When he destroys Cotto, he'll come for GGG and there will be excuses from GGG's team to avoid the fight, that's when the story will get interesting.

If you dont fight for over a year, you are removed from the rankings, and the last time Sergio fought was april 27 2013

It's probably because he hasn't fought in over a year. But usually, it's just you have to have a fight scheduled within a year. Odd. But if Martinez is counted as active, then he's obviously #1 in the world. The champion is always #1.

Just remembered it's been a year, guess they don't log in points even though a fight is set, just waiting till after
