Also this purse for Maidana reflects what Showtime is expecting this PPV to do numbers wise, which isn't much. They spent almost no money promoting this fight, no media tour, only time Floyd was doing interviews outside of fight week was when GBP had other fights happening.
Showtime is trying to control costs so they don't run into another Guerrero money pit like last year...

He can fight Collazo on a damn undercard and get 1.5 mil, if he wins he gets the Floyd fight, and he will more than likely get around 3 mil - 5 mil for that

So 3.3 million for the undercard, that is a lot especially considering like 80% is concentrated on two guys.

That is like 100k buys this would need to produce to break even, by itself and I think that would be asking a lot.

Maidana took short money to get the fight, as got said he had no real leverage and 1.5 million is a lot of money to him. So he get's his biggest ever purse, and a huge opportunity that could make him a ton more money if he comes through.



Same thing with Collazo really, although he probably have made 350k or close to it before but it has been a while since he would have got a payday like that and this a great opportunity for him to secure more paydays that are equal or better.

It is not always about the money for the lesser guy coming in, it is that opportunity to take that step forward to make more in the end.

What they really did was take money from the b-side and spread it around the card, they could have paid Maidana 5 and not spent on Khan and Broner but I don't think that would help the card.
