If Richard leaves there goes the brains...de la hoya has not the brains, discipline, nor $$ 2 run it alone, & others are probably wary of his dependability after all the rehabs he's been through...Oscar better make the peace...Comment

Schaffer is not innocent at all here, but in a way I can't blame him for not wanting to do business with Arum anymore.
Arum publicly has done some pretty shady things. Has Oscar forgotten when what Arum said just over a year ago about him
Not to mention the public things he's said about Mayweather, Schaffer, Haymon, the MGM Grand.....
People forget that when Arum was the top dog he would look down on other promoters. Saying that guys like Dibella, Goosen, Shaw and others were hungry dogs hoping to get what ever HBO threw at them in terms of cash and he didn't like giving them spots on his top rank cards unless he had too.
Schaffer is a proud guy who has done something no one would have thought possible 10 years ago, and that's surpass Top Rank as the leading promoter. He said screw it if Arum doesn't want to work we won't work with him. They developed a good relationship with Showtime, they've created great exciting PPV's and regular Showtime cards. They've had deep undercards and have given for the most part the fights the fans want to see.
Why would he ruin everything he's built on the emotions of a man [Oscar] who's coming out of rehab and has done close to nothing to advance the company?Last edited by JJRod; 04-30-2014, 09:31 AM.Comment

i think what will probably happen is the company splits in two.
the Haymon fighters will probably split with Schaefer
Devon Alexander, Alfredo Angulo, Andre Berto, Adrien Broner, Luis Collazo, Jermall and Jermell Charlo, Omar Figueroa, Danny Garcia, Robert Guerrero, Daniel Jacobs, Amir Khan, Erislandy Lara, Marcos Maidana, Paulie Malignaggi, Lucas Matthysse, Lamont and Anthony Peterson, Peter Quillin, Gary Russell Jr, Leo Santa Cruz, Keith Thurman, and Deontay Wilder.
that sounds like GBP would be gutted if they lost those fighters but honestly how many of them are actual draws or bring in ratings?
Danny Garcia is probably the top guy on the list and after that Leo Santa Cruz. before anybody gets their panties in a bind I'm talking about earning potential not talent alone.
But Oscar is left with Canelo who's a bigger draw than all of those guys combined. Abner Mares and a lot of other latino fighters. Latino fighters are the true bread and butter of GBP, that were all the future earning potential is.Comment

He is atlest ensured to take 3-4 more losses of the next few years.
Fighters more than likely to beat Canelo.
Lara..next upcoming bout
Once he steps up to 160.
Glovokin
Kid Chocolate
Sergio Martinez
Chavez Jr
I mean, besides Juan Marquez, not too many latino fighters keep their PPV and money making status after a few lost.Comment

It would be ****** of Oscar to break up his company. Not only will the fighters leave, but I'm sure the investors would too.
They know who has built the company and they're not going to stick around and invest on the emotions of a guy coming out of rehab.
I mean how long do you think the good relationship Oscar has with Top Rank is going to last?
Instead what I'm guessing is going to happen is they're going to wait it out. Let time pass so Oscar can get his emotions in order and then Oscar will fall back inline.Comment
