This isn't a debate on whether or not you feel the older guys were tougher and in a better era. It's a question for those people who always run around saying the good old days of boxing were much better than today.
How do you reconcile the FACT that for all that time boxing was run by the mob? That they could influence just about anything in the sport and pretty openly did? That numerous champions were directly affiliated and supported by the mob? If we're going to talk about boxers today being sheltered why do you guys ignore the repeated and constant claims of fight fixing in the old days, and the endless stream of news articles from pre-1960 claiming boxing is dead because of mob influence and fight fixing?
