If the best ever fighter, Floyd 'Money' Mayweather wants to buy an NBA team definitely he can afford it with lots more left for him to continue his luxurious life style.

The majority shareholder owns the team and yes he can buy the team.
He can form an investing company, sink in some bit of his cash so investors know he has committed and they will come on board. He does not have to be a billionaire to do that. The difference with JZee is probably because he was approached. When you are approached you don't have much leverage since it was not your idea but if you started it you choose who to go with at your own terms.Comment

Yeah bro. He's going to start a wildly successful investment company, raise capitol and buy a team. Meanwhile, his other company TMT still prints shirts out with Hanes tags. The majority shareholder owns the team and yes he can buy the team.

Im just saying, owning a tiny percentage is not being a majority owner, its odd how much attention is on him that he "owns the dodgers". I can buy stock in any publicly traded company and say i own that company tooComment

Except no investment group in the right frame of mind would ever let Floyd near them if they're serious about purchasing an NBA franchise. Hypothetically they'd be trying to purchase a franchise from a supposed racist owner yet they would knowingly include a high profile bigot as one of their partners? Highly unlikely. I'm sure they can find far more suitable partners with much cleaner backgrounds. Oh, and I don't think the NBA would like that idea either. The majority shareholder owns the team and yes he can buy the team.
