Comments Thread For: Arreola: I Want to Be Champ, I'm Not a Paycheck Fighter

If boxing were a religion, then Chris Arreola would be classified as a born-again fighter.

The heavyweight contender is treating his May 10 rematch with Bermane Stiverne as the last chance to make something of his once promising career. There is plenty of motivation heading into the bout – avenging a loss, fighting for a vacant heavyweight title and attempting to become the first ever fighter of Mexican descent to claim championship status in the heavyweight division.

I think Stiverne could be a force in the division. He hits hard, has a solid chin, has a decent jab, is a good counter-puncher, and has good body work.

I really like Arreola but he is a big underdog and he prob knows it, Stiverne has been sparring with young Joe Parker who is a similar stature but probably better than Arreola, albeit perhaps a little less powerful and battle-hardened, great experience for Parker
